Review Christmas 2013

A day full of adventure

Christmas in March:
thyssenkrupp Aufzüge makes children's dreams come true.

On 29 March, the wait was finally over – our Christmas project delighted nearly 25 children from Mariaberg Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital. Under the motto “Making dreams come true...” our customers had voted on which wish we’d fulfil for children living in an institution. A clear majority chose “A day full of adventure” for Mariaberg e.V., a Protestant social welfare organisation serving children and youth with special needs. Our plan was to ensure happy surprises from start to finish: forest activities, many games, a visit to a waterpark and lots of tasty food. Naturally, a Christmas project meant that there would be gifts, as well.

High spirits and thrilling activities – from start to finish.

“Now I can grab a prize from the bag!” beamed seven-year-old Jonathan after successfully finishing a blindfolded obstacle course, following a rope strung through a patch of forest. This “rope trail” was the first of four adventure stations on Mariaberg’s wooded property. Jonathan and the others also explored a rope bridge, a gigantic climbing tree and a 10-metre swing. Next, the hungry adventurers gathered at the barbecue, where sausages and Stockbrot (traditional grilled bread) were waiting. The journey continued right after lunch – by private bus to the Badkap waterpark in Albstadt. After the children had played for several hours, the day concluded with a pizza party in Gammertingen.

At the end of the day, just enough energy for a satisfied smile.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see the kids so excited,” remarked Thorsten Schumacher, COO of thyssenkrupp Aufzüge GmbH. Mariaberg’s Director Rüdiger Böhm also praised the idea and warmly thanked all participants, particularly the employees at thyssenkrupp Aufzüge. “We have made great connections today. Maybe this event can be repeated at some point,” he smiled, somewhat exhausted but very pleased.
